AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, May 19, 2020. FabFilter is proud to announce immediate availability of FabFilter Saturn 2, a major update to their award-winning multiband distortion and saturation plug-in. Saturn 2 sees a top-to-bottom redesign of the Saturn interface for even greater ease of use and visualization, as well as a host of new features and improvements, including 12 new distortion styles, a radically overhauled and expanded modulation system, enhanced envelopes, linear phase processing, and a pristine new ‘Superb’ High Quality mode.
Beautiful new interface with modulation visualization
Saturn 2 looks better and flows faster than ever. The darker color scheme makes the plug-in easier to look at for extended sessions, and four interface size options and a stunning full-screen mode enable adaptation to any workspace. Modulation is now comprehensively visualized at both source and target, too, with color-coded collars and tracks on knobs and sliders animating in response to modulation input, the source flow area giving an eye-catching overview of all mod signals, and indicators on controls and bands showing which parameters are being modulated at a glance.
More distortion types
Saturn 2 almost doubles the number of distortion styles on board from 16 to 28. ‘Subtle’ versions of the Tape, Tube, and Saturation styles provide low-intensity warming, while four new British (Rock, Pop) and American (Tweed, Plexi) Amp styles perfectly model well-known guitar amplifiers, three Transformer styles (Subtle, Gentle, Warm) open up abrasive new possibilities, and the Foldback and Breakdown FX styles reshape and mutate sounds beyond recognition, the latter combining down-pitching with heavy distortion.
Big modulation changes
With virtually no limit placed on the combination of 16-step XLFOs, Envelope Generators, Envelope Followers, XY Controllers, and MIDI sources that can be used in a preset, Saturn has always been serious about creative modulation, and Saturn 2 takes the whole system to the next level. Curve the Envelope Generator’s Attack, Decay, and Release stages for a smoother or more aggressive response, activate the Envelope Follower’s new Transient detection mode to tightly track drums and percussion, and route discrete band inputs to both Envelope sources as triggering signals — pulverize hi-hats to the rhythm of the kick drum, for example. The XY Controller’s new Slider mode, meanwhile, slims it down to vertical-only operation, and the XLFO benefits from legato MIDI triggering and targeting of the Frequency Offset and Balance parameters for modulation. And with custom naming of individual mod sources now possible, users can customize their Saturn 2 presets for effortless navigation.
Mastering grade saturation
The new ‘Subtle’ saturation types make Saturn 2 the mastering engineer’s secret weapon, bringing enlivening presence and fizz to final mixes. In order to meet the exacting demands of such mission- critical application, the band crossovers now offer a choice of 6, 12, 24, 36, and 48 dB/octave roll-off slopes, the new ‘Superb’ High Quality mode switches the plug-in to 32x oversampling for almost total elimination of aliasing, and the Linear Phase option ensures maximum coherence for the crossovers and High Quality modes.
• 28 diverse distortion styles, from warming tube and tape saturation to screaming American and British guitar amps, Transformers, bit crushing, smearing, rectification, and more
• Up to six separate processing bands, with variable crossover slopes: 6, 12, 24, 36, and 48 dB/octave
• Independent Drive, Mix, Feedback, Dynamics, Tone, and Level controls for every band
• Two High Quality modes for 8x and 32x oversampling
• Regular stereo and mid/side processing
• Intuitive interactive multiband display
• Powerful, flexible modulation system: drag and drop as many 16-step XLFOs, XY Controllers, Envelope Generators, Envelope Followers, Sliders, and MIDI Sources as required
• Full visual feedback of modulation via parameter animation and ‘source flow’
• Linear phase mode for mastering applications
• Four interface size options and full-screen mode
• Carefully curated factory preset library for amp modeling, coloration, lo-fi degradation, and FX
• All the usual FabFilter features users have come to expect: perfectly fine-tuned knobs and controllers, interactive MIDI Learn, undo/redo and A/B switch, Smart Parameter Interpolation for smooth parameter transitions, an extensive help file with interactive help hints, sample accurate automation, SSE optimization, and more
FabFilter Saturn 2 is now available for EUR 129, USD 154 or GBP 114, supporting both Windows and macOS in VST and VST 3, Audio Units, AAX, and AudioSuite plug-in formats. Bundles with FabFilter Saturn 2 and other FabFilter plug-ins are also available at: www.fabfilter.com/shop

980 Spark is a unit that consists of three modules: Compressor, Colour, and Saturator...
This plug-in was especially designed to help enrich and thicken audio content with minimum of effort, without compromising quality and usability. It is a handy tool for sound design, as well as a sophisticated saturation unit.
All the controls are carefully selected with workflow in mind, enabling the user to quickly achieve the desired result, while retaining the versatility of the plug-in and allowing space for experimentation.
980 Spark is mostly suited for use during the production process, especially in electronic music but also acoustic or live applications. Combining Compression, EQ and Saturation, allows control of the dynamic range and harmonic content of the sound.
The signal first runs through the "Compressor" module, then through the "Colour" module and finally into the "Saturator". This way, the first two stages ("Compressor" and "Colour") essentially define the dynamic and spectral characteristics of the sound that will excite the Saturator, creating a unique spectrum of capabilities on the saturation effect.
980 Spark features an easy to use interface, with sample peak metering and clip indication at each output stage for easy gain staging through the plug-in, and expertly tuned modules for musical application...
A compressor based on the analogue envelope detection circuit.
6 carefully developed EQ curves.
6 selected and modified saturation algorithms.
A combination of the three modules that creates a unique spectrum of saturation effects.
Pricing & Availability 980 SPARK:
List Price: $129
Introductory Promo: $49
An introductory promotion shall be available from May 5th, through May 17th, 2020, at the highlighted price above.

BRNO, CZECH REPUBLIC: software applications, software effects, and hardware processors developer Audified is proud to introduce an all-new intuitive plug-in product line with VocalMint Saturator — an easy-to-use, one-knob valve saturation shaper with vocal- and speech-specialising powerful processing hidden under the hood — as of April 23…
Unlike most one-knob-style plug-ins that only do one thing — think processing a track linearly with a specific effect, Audified’s all-new VocalMint Saturator processes a track through its virtual signal chain to tune multiple vocal- and speech-specific parameters simultaneously. As a valve saturation shaper par excellence, it ably achieves this under the hood — and all without interruption to the creative process. After all, valve saturation is not a linear phenomenon and neither is VocalMint Saturator’s taper. Indeed, it is intelligently optimised for mixing vocals and speech, so saturates accordingly across the whole range of the knob that dominates a gorgeous GUI (Graphical User Interface) that is as easy on the eye as it is to use with a menu that can remain closed or opened for easily accessing additional controls, such as a zoom option or dBU/dBFS calibration.
Intuitive in use, anyone can master VocalMint Saturator in a matter of seconds. Saying that, though, there lies a powerful beast below its superficially simplistic surface, saturating whatever track it is applied to while also shaping it using pre-tuned algorithms developed from Audified’s considerable collective music production experience. As Audified has helpfully chosen and carefully crafted the whole saturation chain involved, including subtle equalisation... voilá! All the user needs to do is turn the knob and enjoy employing the vocal- and speech-enhancing results on their own music production.
VocalMint Saturator is available to purchase for a time-limited COVID-19 crisis promo price of only $29.00 USD until May 14, 2020 — rising thereafter to $79.00 USD — from Audified’s online shop here: https://shop.audified.com/products/vocalmint-saturator
VocalMint Saturator can be directly downloaded as an AAX, AU, VST2, VST3 64-bit native plug-in for MacOS (10.9 and above) and an AAX, VST2, VST3 32- and 64-bit native plug-in for Windows (7, 8, and 10) — alongside a demo version — from Audified here: https://services.audified.com/download (Note that VocalMint Saturator is serial number-protected, so no iLok is required.)

Iisalmi, Finland –May 2020... Genelec –the global leader in professional loudspeakers –is to donate a percentage of every sale of its new RAW loudspeaker range to the Audio Engineering Society (AES), for the remainder of this year. Additionally, Genelec will be funding ten one-year AES memberships for those individuals whose lives have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.
Founded in the United States in 1948, the AES is the only professional society devoted exclusively to audio technology. Since then, the Society has grown to become an international organisation that unites audio engineers, creative artists, scientists and students worldwide by promoting advances in audio, and disseminating new knowledge and research.
Genelec has been a sustaining member of the AES for many years, and greatly appreciates the benefits that the Society brings to individuals for career advancement, and to the audio industry as a whole. The AES’s crucial Standards work, promotion of audio research, development of milestone events and education spanning the breadth of audio technology has led the industry forward for more than 70 years.
Unfortunately, the cashflow of the AES has been significantly affected recently by the coronavirus situation. So to help sustain itself and continue to support its members, the Society is looking to raise $500,000 in donations.
Genelec Managing Director Siamak Naghian comments:
“To us, the AES represents the only serious forum for the development of audio, and the work it does for our industry is invaluable. In its pursuit of excellence and dedication to raising the bar in the industry, it is without equal, and our approaches have much in common. We will do everything we can to help the Society through the ongoing crisis, and this donation is just one way of showing our support and appreciation for this much-loved institution.”
Genelec’s special RAW aluminium colour finish is available on a selection of the most popular models in its Studio, AV and Home Audio ranges. All RAW models feature the timeless Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) design, developed in close collaboration with leading industrial designer Harri Koskinen, and fashioned from recycled aluminium. The RAW versions require no painting and less finishing material than standard painted models –creating an even more environmentally friendly loudspeaker that allows the natural beauty of the enclosure’s raw aluminium to shine through, and gives each individual loudspeaker a unique look and feel.
Genelec will donate a percentage of each global RAW sale to the AES, and is also inviting professional or student members of the audio community who have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis to apply for a 12 month AES membership. Genelec will then select ten worthy recipients, and fund the membership for eachof them. This initiative sits alongside Genelec’s existing Ilpo Martikainen Audio Visionary Scholarship, offered annually to U.S. graduate students in the field of audio engineering who are members of the Society. The scholarship is offered in associationwith the AES Education Foundation to students who have a passion for advancing audio through innovation and technology development.
“Genelec has been a steadfast partner to the AES for decades, contributing resources and expertise that play a major role in the quality of our Convention technical programs,” shares AES President Agnieszka Roginska. “Genelec engineers consistently and generously share their knowledge as well, enriching the dialogues that advance the science and practice that are the foundation of professional audio. With the announcement that they are contributing a share of the proceeds of all sales of the new Genelec RAW loudspeakers to the AES’s current fundraising initiative, Genelec is reinforcing their commitment to the continued vitality of the audio industry. The AES greatly appreciates Genelec’s pledge of yet further support, helping sustain the Society’s essential contributions to the audio industry.”

Aston Microphones are used the world over by countless artists, engineers and producers who rely on their incredible sound quality and near indestructible build for their work.
Every Aston mic to date has been developed in conjunction with the Aston 33 panel, a 600 strong group of many of the top industry professionals in the business who, through a series of blind listening tests, have ensured that each mic produced has outperformed all the competition, including big brand mics costing 10 times as much.
Now it’s YOUR turn!
Aston Element will be the first microphone in the world to have a sound crafted by the public, the musicians, engineers and producers who will eventually be using it to create their own musical magic. Aston have taken the mic to prototype stage – now here’s the chance to have your say on how the final version will sound. By registering to take part you can become a member of a voting panel who take part in a series of blind-listening tests.
There will be several stages of public voting between late April and July 2020. At each stage you will be able to listen to 5 takes for each of 3 audio sources (male vocal, female vocal and acoustic guitar) recorded on prototypes of the new Aston, alongside a number of competitors’ mics. Then you’ll rate them, from best to worst. But here’s the thing – you won’t know which sound files are which, or even which mics are being used in the test!
After each voting stage Aston’s design team will modify the prototypes in line with the voting results and the blind-listening test process will be repeated. Only when the new Aston mic is consistently voted the best sounding microphone will the Element be signed off for production. This whole process is being peer reviewed by participating magazines and a team of independent professional engineers and producers.
This is a unique chance for you to contribute to the sound design of a professional studio microphone.

Available from Tuesday April 28th, 2020, via Plugivery Distribution and all reputable pro audio resellers worldwide, Plugivery are proud to welcome Pulsar Audio to their increasing list of audio plug-in and software application manufacturing brands.
"An Industry-Standard Tube Compressor"
The most faithful emulation of a modern yet legendary tube compressor/limiter – perfect glue for mixing and mastering.
There are several reasons to use a variable-bias tube compressor. One is the exceptional compression transparency that this kind of compressor can achieve, even when pushed into extreme gain reduction. Another – and perhaps the most common – is their ability to add cohesion or "glue" to buses, whole mixes and masters.
With its unique Topology Preservation Technology, Pulsar Mu sounds objectively identical to the hardware in every production context, and even makes improvements such as an increased signal-to-noise ratio.
"The Best Software Emulation of the Binson Echorec 2"
Echorec is a software emulation of the iconic echo/delay unit of the same name, produced by the Italian brand Binson in the 1960s.
Vintage Echorec devices are known for their saturation, self-oscillation, and oversound, all shaping the music produced in the 70s. They are also, however, known to be fragile and difficult to maintain.
The Pulsar Echorec plug-in gives you a faithful emulation of this legendary echo unit; furthermore, many workflow improvements have been added to the original, such as the ability to change the motor speed (and so the delay time) in real time or to sync it to any tempo, including a tapped tempo.
Three different units, in different conditions, have also been precisely modeled, to have all sounds from the cleanest magnetic delay, to the most grunge.
These additions and the signature sound of the Binson Echorec 2 make this echo a must-have tool for any mixer who wants to add the subtle analog life, which is sorely lacking in digital delay plug-ins.
"All Buttons In, All The Time"
A straightforward extreme compressor modeled after the "British mode" of a uniquely modified 1176 compressor.
Smasher is an unprecedented custom modification of the classic Urei 1176 compressor circuit, a unique formula stumbled upon while fine-tuning other algorithms.
While remaining very close to the original circuitry, the modifications built into Smasher will add definition to transients and make your tone more aggressive. Customers love using it to enhance the ambience in drum busses, but there are many more creative uses too. Smasher won’t work on every single track, but where it does, it works magic.
Smasher excels at raw and gritty sounds, calling to mind bands like Vulfpeck, The Whitefield Brothers and The Black Keys.

About Pulsar Audio
There is more to a great plug-in than the sound quality it imparts on your tracks. Workflow and user-friendliness are arguably equally important. To that end, we are proud to finally announce the completely overhauled Preset Collection, already available in the most recent update of all native Softube plug-ins.
Use category icons to sort by instrument, or browse pro-user collections. Take a smoother stroll through your options with list view. Resize the presets window to your preference, or simply stay in the plug-in window, using the pull-down menu or the click-through arrows. It's slicker, quicker, and sicker than ever before.

Berlin, April 23rd, 2020 – Native Instruments today releases its first three MASSIVE X Expansions; RUSH, PULSE, and SCENE.
Each Expansion contains 150 presets for the synth tailored toward a certain sound, created by expert sound designers who were involved in the development of MASSIVE X and the creation of its factory library.
Made for producers, composers, and musicians, MASSIVE X Expansions provide fundamental, professional sound design for those who need a certain sound, and can be endlessly tweaked, patched, and rewired for those who want to take things further.
RUSH sees dancefloor-focused, melodic leads and pads come to the fore – ranging from complex and shifting patches to cutting, front-and-center sounds.
PULSE is oriented toward bass patches – from the contemporary, edgy sounds indigenous to its digital architecture, to forward-thinking takes on low-end classics.
SCENE is geared towards soundscapes, textures, and atmospheres, and exploits MASSIVE X’s versatility.
Native is celebrating the launch by offering all three Expansions for the price of two. Anybody who has so far slept on MASSIVE X can upgrade or buy it with a $50 discount, and will additionally get RUSH, PULSE, and SCENE for free. The special offer is available until May 10th, 2020.

Neu-Anspach, Germany – April 21, 2020 – ‘Accessibility’ has become a topic of mounting concern for both public authorities and event organizers over the past few years. With the MIDI 5 2D, Defender® is now launching a series of traversable modular cable protectors whose multidimensional concept pairs superior flexibility and easy day-to-day use.
With most common cable protector systems, a compromise usually has to be made between barrier-free access and trafficability. But that’s not the case with the new Defender MIDI 5 2D series: it takes an entirely new approach with its modular, multidimensional, and compatible concept. The system is equipped with a middle section module (available in lengths of 19.59 inches and 39.37 inches), a ramp, and an adapter set, which is completely compatible with the MIDI 5 2D from the widely used Defender MIDI 5 Series.
Every MIDI 5 2D middle section has a drive-over ramp which can be passed over completely. The ramp module’s 6° angle fulfills almost all requirements and standards regarding barrier-free accessibility at events. The flat incline of the MIDI 5 2D Series makes it easy for wheelchair users to roll over the protectors with no trouble at all, and they’re also so stable that they can bear the weight of forklifts and trucks. The MIDI 5 2D Series naturally also features the innovative Defender LaserGrip® surface: Its special ergonomic shape and surface structure reduces the risk of an entire line of cable protectors accidentally shifting out of place.
Handling and Flexibility
The MIDI 5 2D modular system can be expanded both in length and width as you like, and it also ensures easy accessibility and safety even when complex cable arrangements are used, for example, close to power generators or in front-of-house areas. The well-balanced design facilitates planning in advance as well as on-site installation. The MIDI 5 2D module is also outfitted with carrying handles for efficient transport. The middle section has channels on the inside for safely and neatly laying sound, lighting, and power cables one by one.
The Defender MIDI 5 2D cable protector series is available now.

Epsom, United Kingdom, April 21st, 2020 – It's been announced today that Synchro Arts, the makers of VocALign and Revoice Pro, are one of only four UK companies to win two 2020 Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, one for Innovation and the other for International Trade. The Queen’s Awards celebrate the success of exciting and innovative businesses which are leading the way with pioneering products or services.
A core benefit resulting from innovations delivered by Synchro Arts is that vocal alignment and pitch correction tasks which would have taken hours of manual editing can be performed in minutes or in some cases, instantly.
You've most likely heard Synchro Arts products at work on countless platinum-selling and Grammy-winning music albums and on numerous Emmy-winning TV shows like Game of Thrones and Chernobyl and Oscar-winning films like Roma and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. Synchro Arts was also the only UK company to receive a coveted Technology and Engineering Emmy award in 2019.
Managing Director and Founder, Jeff Bloom, commented: “Synchro Arts has always tried to provide audio professionals with tools that help them deliver their very best work by making specific audio editing tasks easier and faster. We’ve achieved this by coming up with solutions that had never even been imagined and many of which remain unique.
We are incredibly excited and honoured to receive two such highly distinguished awards from the Queen’s Award for Enterprise organisation, and we gratefully thank and acknowledge the skills and dedication of our amazing team and, of course, our worldwide customers for making this possible."
