(In English at the bottom of the page)

1. Musiken!

2. Varje ton i låten ger mig associationer.

Orden ÄR låten i mitt huvud. Det är det viktigaste.

9. Där har jag låten. I ord. Ofta förvånansvärt enkelt, om man bara lever sig in i musiken.

Här är en del av en text från min låt "Crawl into the underworld"

I will walk in the light of the past
and crawl into the underworld,
Where all the dreams I dreamed of are
What is there?
The clock is ticking in my head, and the blood rushes within my legs
But they tell me that I must crawl into the dark hole in front of my feet
I crawl, crawl down
But there is no fear
My toes rest on stones and branches
I'm falling down
To the other earth,
The one I knew existed,
but only existed in my dreams before...

ENGLISH:

A major dilemma for many artists is the lyrics. Don't despair - it doesn't have to be as hard as it sometimes feels!

1. The music! It´s the most important thing. I usually listen to the song I'm working on and disconnect everything else. I´m "inside the music".

2. Each note in the song gives me associations. I write down every word I think of when I hear the notes. The notes usually give me a word, though I may have to listen several times.

3. I never think, "Now I'll make something poetic, or neat". I can always change the words afterwords. It´s the feeling I want to catch.

4. I listen to the song a couple of times, then write down everything I come up with.

5. Now I have a lot of words, which may not belong together, but those words are the feeling I got from the song. The words are the song in my head. It´s the most important thing.

6. Then I sit down and puzzle with the words. Which ones fit together, and which ones fit in with the different parts of the song?

7. I often write several sections of lyrics to the same place in the song. Then I take all the small sections and puzzle again.

8. If I like the meaning of the words the music gave me associations with, but the words don´t fit the song, I go online and google for synonyms.

9. Now I've got lyrics for my song. It´s often surprisingly simple if you just empathize with the music.

Above is a part of the lyrics from my song "Crawl into the underworld". (You can see the full lyrics if you open the song on SoundCloud below via laptop/computer).
