Vilken master är bäst?

Sorry för att jag spammar forumet med denna hela tiden, snart kan väl alla låten utantill:D Men jag behöver verkligen hjälp att hitta rätt. Varje masteringtekniker tycker det de gör själva är bäst och jag har svårt att lita på folk som tjänar pengar på saker och ting.

Personen jag vänt mig till nu har fått väldigt bra omdömmen på diverse forum.

Jag är oerhört tacksam över att höra era åsikter. De betyder väldigt mycket för mig.

Min amatörmässiga åsikt trots att jag gillar treble mer än bas är att woolies master har jobbiga S och en påfrestande hihat. Den nya mastern är inte lika öppen och bred, men har inga problem som jag ser det förutom kanske lite mycket bas som inte skapar ett lika klart ljud.

"I just downloaded the file and compared it to the master I had sent you, I don't mean any disrespect to the other engineer that worked on this version, but in my honest opinion, this is not what I would consider a good master (and I wouldn't try to match the sound of this other version, to be frank). As you've pointed out, it's very bright. I can tell that whoever worked on this used a mid/side processor possibly in an attempt to widen it, and you have to be careful with that kind of process because you can end up distorting the balance of the mix and make things stand out and/or push other elements of the mix out of balance. I listened to this version over my Bowers & Wilkins 2.1 system, which has a calibrated sub that goes down to about 22Hz, I didn't hear much of the low frequencies in the 45 - 65Hz range, which are there in the original mix (which sound fine on the master I sent you). In the low end department, this other version sounds very anemic; there's no definition there and it's almost as if they've applied a filter to make the track brighter (which sounds okay over laptops and cell phone speakers, but doesn't cut it over full-range, wide dispersion systems).

 

The piano and hats are very audible in this version, and I suspect it's a result of m/s manipulation; I know you said this sounds good to you but from a 3rd person's perspective, when the verses come in, my focus goes mostly to the piano and not your vocals. This is the bit I think is really important, someone who listens to your song for the first time may quickly feel the same and it won't sound natural; the choruses to me sound a bit distorted and can hear the snare drum ducking underneath. I also hear a bit of smearing (unnatural balance of elements in the mix) as well as some saturation. I also listened to both mixes on my laptop, and this effect isn't as obvious over the tiny speakers (frankly, this master sounds decent on my laptop speakers, but then again they don't reproduce any sounds below ~70Hz, so you can't tell if low frequency information isn't there).

Later tonight, I'm going to send you another version that's a little bit hotter and a little bit brighter, but it definitely won't be like this other example, which I feel is just not good. It sounds way brighter and louder but it's been overdone quite a bit, in my honest opinion."

Overall så gillar jag hans master och intrycket han ger, men som sagt så betyder det mycket för mig att höra era åsikter också.

Tack:) Håller med:) Lyssnade in mig på denna i olika system och när jag sedan gick tillbaka till woolies så tyckte jag den lät mycket sämre. Tror jag lyssnat in mig för mycket på treble-ish ljud då jag måste sänka basen på min ipod när jag använder mina billiga in ear lurar.
