The CGX122M combines traditional craftsmanship and aesthetics with modern design and electronic innovations, resulting in an instrument offering exquisite tone and superb playability.
"This new non-cutaway guitar replaces the cutaway CGX122MSC/MCC in the CGX series," explains Tim Baker, Product Marketing Manager, Yamaha Guitar Group. "Now all of the guitars in the CGX series have traditional body shapes, and players seeking classical guitars with cutaway bodies will find them in our NX series of cutaway classical guitars."
The CGX122M guitar's back and sides are crafted from nato wood—similar to mahogany in both sound and appearance—complementing the solid spruce and cedar tops. The guitar's fingerboard and bridge are constructed of walnut, and the instrument features a modern matte finish. Plus, the guitar's double-action truss rod makes it easy to adjust the neck both backward and forward.
In addition to its outstanding acoustic tone, the CGX122M guitar's fully integrated Yamaha System 73 undersaddle pickup system provides a full, rich, and balanced amplified sound for live performance or recording, and there's also a convenient built-in tuner.
More than a half-century ago, Yamaha consulted legendary Spanish classical guitar luthiers such as Manuel Hernandez and Eduardo Ferrer in the pursuit of building world-class guitars, and all present day Yamaha classical guitars—most recently the CGX122M—are solidly based upon that original foundation.
